Operations and experiments on the International Space Station, September 17, 2011. / September 19, 2011 /
On September 17 the Russian segment of International Space Station Flight Engineer Sergei Volkov (Roscosmos) will ceans amateur radio, weekly cleaning and maintenance of station life support systems (coolant).
The program of scientific experiments:
Investigation of the physical conditions in space orbiting the Earth:
study the dynamics of the radiation environment on the flight path and in ISS compartments, and dose accumulation in the anthropomorphic phantom, placed inside the station («Matryoshka-R»).
study of growth and development of higher plants, as well as the development of the technology of their cultivation in microgravity («Plants-2»).
study of the correlation between the change in genetic properties, the productivity of recombinant strains in microgravity and the effects on them of heavy charged cosmic ray particles («Biotrack»);
determine the effect of exposure to conditions of orbital flight on the growth, genetic and physiological characteristics of the producer strain lactol (lactol ");
study of the effects of space flight on bacteriophages («bacteriophage»);
study the effect of micro-gravity on the solubility of calcium phosphates in the water («Calcium»);
to study the characteristics of a cell culture of ginseng and other crops in order to identify opportunities to increase their biological activity («Ginseng-2»).
Exploration of the solar system:
study of fast and thermal neutrons. Construction of a physical model of generation of charged and neutral particles («BTN-Neutron»).
study of the characteristics of the underlying surface, ocean and atmosphere («microwave radiometry»);
experimental testing method interaction crew of the Russian segment of International Space Station with the courts Rosrybolovstva to search for and development of industrial-productive areas of the ocean («Seiner»);
Experimental studies on the possibility of using the Russian segment of International Space Station in areas of ecological survey of the various objects («Econ»).
Geophysics and near-Earth space:
Monitoring seismic effects bursts of high energy particles in near-Earth space («Splash»);
study of atmospheric gamma bursts and optical radiation in terms of thunderstorm activity («Lightning-Gamma»);
experimental development of an Earth-space system for monitoring and forecasting of natural and technological disasters («Hurricane»).
Technical research and experiments:
testing of equipment and demonstration of Russian technology round-trip information Space laser line («SLS») Standby mode.
The ISS crew continues to work the 29th long-term expedition composed of the commander of a NASA astronaut Michael Fossum, flight engineers cosmonaut Sergei Volkov Space Agency JAXA astronaut Satoshi and Furukawa.
