The treadmill has broken on ISS. / October 12, 2010 /

On International Space Station has failed one of the trainers — a treadmill TVIS.

Friday, October 8, cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin and astronaut Douglas Wilcock within a few hours trying to restore the TVIS. They, in particular, have checked all the cables are properly connected, and replaced with a spare one of the items simulator — vibration isolation system (VIS).

As a result of this work, it was possible to restore the gyro exerciser. For further troubleshooting, data from a memory card installed on the TVIS, beamed back to Earth, where specialists will develop the method further repair simulator.

The simulator of American manufacturing TVIS installed in the Russian segment of ISS, the station has one more jogging track — COLBERT, headquartered in the U.S. segment.

ISS crew members to a few hours a day engaged in sports training equipment, to minimize the negative effects of a prolonged stay in microgravity. Gyms that are installed on the ISS, had already several times broke down and rebuild their work was possible only after a long time.
