Contract signed for launch of the Proton rocket with two communications satellites. / February 16, 2010 /

The company International Launch Services (ILS) announced a contract with satellite operator SES (Luxembourg) on launch carrier rocket «Proton» with communications satellite SES-3 onboard.

Satellite for SES will be on orbit together with the Kazakh satellite KazSat-2. Launch is scheduled for 2011 from the Baikonur.

This will be the fifth launch of «Proton» with spacecraft company SES, which ILS is planning to implement in 2010-2011. Satellite SES-3 will produce the company Orbital Sciences Corporation.

The spacecraft is designed to update the satellite constellation SES, covering the territory of North and South America.

The rocket «Proton» is already used for the simultaneous launch of two satellites into geostationary orbit. In February 2009, held a successful tandem running average of the satellite «Express-AM44 and the small satellite» Express-MD1.

New contract for the joint launch of two satellites, SES-3 and KazSat-2, once again demonstrates the ability of the rocket «Proton» in orbit several satellites simultaneously.
