Computer failed on the ISS. / February 24, 2010 /

In the American segment of the International Space Station, was short-term broking down the main of the three computers that perform command and control functions, reported on the site of the National Aerospace Agency of the USA (NASA).

Failed computer, according to NASA, occurred Sunday, February 21, about 09:00 Eastern time (about 17:00 Moscow time) and caused a short loss of communication with the station.

NASA reminded that any of the three command and control computers ISS may in case of a contingency situation, to act as the principal, so the relationship with the station was quickly restored.

According to the preliminary version of the blame for failure lies with the software. To determine the exact cause of failure is checked all three command and control computers of the American segment of the ISS, the website reported NASA.

On the night of Saturday, February 20, undocked from the ISS and headed to Earth U.S. space shuttle «Endeavor». Planting Endeavor is scheduled for Feb. 21 before the morning Moscow time, at the launch site at Cape Canaveral. However, NASA representatives have not ruled out due to adverse weather conditions boarding Endeavor will have to defer to a later time.
