Progress M-28M Docks Successfully with ISS. / July 5, 2015 /

On 5 July 2015 at 10:11 a.m. Moscow Time, the Progress M-28M cargo ship docked successfully to the PIRS docking compartment of the Russian ISS Segment.

The rendezvous was automated and controlled by Commander Gennady Padalka, Flight Engineer Mikhail Kornienko, and experts of the Mission Control Center of FGUP TsNIIMASH.

The ISS search, rendezvous, and docking were performed using the KURS-A Navigation Sensor Suite manufactured by Research Institute of Precision Instruments (part of JSC „Russian Space Systems“).

The KURS-A radio system of inter measurements (SVI) designed for search, rendezvous, and docking of spacecraft was used for mutual measuring of motion parameters and automated docking of Progress M-28M with ISS. The system is responsible for measuring the mutual range, radial and angular velocities, and bearing, orientation and roll angles. High-precision multiparametric capabilities enable the vector of spacecraft relative position to be identified and their automated docking to be made.

Progress M-28M delivered approximately 2381 tons of supplies including oxygen, fuel, experiments, food, fresh water, and parcels for the ISS crew.
